ISLAMABAD: The National Electric Power Regulatory Authority has approved an increase of Rs0.81 per unit in the electricity tariff for power distribution companies. The tariff was revised upwards on account of fuel cost adjustment for the month of February. Power distribution companies will include the tariff hike of Rs.81 per unit in next month’s electricity bills and will collect an additional Rs5.2 billion from the consumers. The Central Power Purchasing Agency (CPPA) had sought a tariff increase of Rs1.23 per unit due to a hike in fuel prices. The reference fuel cost for the month of February was at Rs3.97 per unit.
